One thing I want to work on this year is being more authentic. I think being more authentically YOU has a big impact on your happiness. But most of us don't really know what makes us happy!

I think the biggest threat to our happiness is that we are constantly on the go. It's in the stats, people are working more with less downtime. And when you're constantly on call, that downtime is usually spent relaxing so you can do it all over tomorrow.

That means most of our day we are focusing on the NOW. There's no space for reflection, like is what I'm doing making me happy? What are my dreams and goals?

It's nearly impossible to reach long-term goals when your mindset is always focusing on NOW. Time slips away before you know it!

So this week, make some space to think about how you want your life to look a year from today. Think about what it would take to get there. And then start applying one little change. That's how big changes start.

I used to always feel like I had to post what I was doing right then. Then I felt like that was limiting me as a creator so I started to be more lax.

In my mind, a good pic is a good pic even if it was taken 2 months ago. But then I get asked how I always go to LA every other day when I'm just posting some older content 🙈

Be a fountain, not a drain ⛲ »
Finally found a fountain so I could use this quote 💁🏼‍♀️ I had a post written out about how to be a fountain, spreading positivity to everyone around you, but I trashed it because—screw it—that's not what I'm feeling today.

There is NO WAY to be a fountain for others unless you are your own damn fountain. I haven't met anyone whose life doesn't have ups and downs and during the downs, we are all so hard on ourselves. When we don't feel like getting out of bed, when we don't do our best work, when we're flaky, when we let people down, when we make mistakes, when we make risky or stupid choices, we PUNISH ourselves. We feel guilty. We failed. We drain ourselves.

If you're having downs in your life, you need to treat yourself with compassion. Only you can understand what you are going through. Forgive yourself. Treat yourself with kindness and sympathy. Forgiveness doesn't mean you have to be happy with your situation. It means you can look at yourself and say, "It's okay." We all do it.
